No, you don’t. You got what you wanted, and you move on. There are plenty of other things you still want, and you know you won’t find them all in one place.

All the sweet, long-term promises were just to keep you quiet. The narcissist had a shallow, specific goal in mind, and it had nothing to do with love or idealization. Those were just illusions.
